Sustainability

Our most important partner: Mother Nature

Raw material extraction and nature conservation have long ceased to be opposites – on the contrary. Safe and sustainable extraction and processing of raw materials makes an important contribution to protecting our planet, preserving a livable environment and safeguarding people’s future. Through a global framework, we proactively manage the impacts of our operations and products to ensure positive outcomes for all stakeholders.

In our former quarries, gravel, clay and kaolin pits, we have bred a diverse ecosystem of animal and plant species through ongoing recultivation efforts. Since many of these prefer shallow stillwaters with little vegetation, LB Minerals contributes to their survival through particularly sustainable use of the extraction areas.

Compared to man-made cultural landscapes, our renaturalized extraction sites are characterized by a variety of small-scale living conditions. In order to provide the flora and fauna with these habitats in the best possible way, we are in constant exchange with experts from the fields of nature conservation and renaturation, and have even received sustainability awards for our efforts in recultivating our mining areas.
